What is Yoga4SocialJustice?
An organization committed to mind and body connection through engagements of social justice principles. The commitments of yoga require those who practice and teach it to be connected to their thoughts, feelings, emotions, and the manifestations of those as actions. As an educator, Dr. Valin S. Jordan is committed to social justice and finds the practice of yoga helps to enhance what is necessary for social justice movements - a commitment to connecting to our identity narratives (race, class, gender, sexuality, religion, family, etc.), a commitment to unlearning perceptions that limit our connections to others, and a commitment to challenging the status quo through sociopolitical understandings.
